Isha Lambkin: A Journey from Engineering to Life Sciences and Beyond

 

Early Beginnings and Academic Pursuits

Isha Lambkin's story begins on the picturesque Caribbean Island of Trinidad & Tobago. At the young age of 19, she embarked on an international academic adventure, moving to Germany to study Chemical & Biological Engineering at Jacobs University Bremen, thanks to an Engineering Scholarship. Her academic journey did not end there; she continued to expand her knowledge at NYU's Tandon School of Engineering, where she was a distinguished member of the Honors College.

 

A New Calling in Life Sciences

While residing in New York City, Isha experienced a pivotal moment that redirected her career path. She joined the New York Botanical Gardens, a move that unbeknownst to her at the time, would ignite her passion in a new field - Life Sciences. It was here that her natural talent for working with children was first recognized, leading her to explore early childhood education.

 

Transition to Early Childhood Education

A serendipitous encounter with Jennifer Jones, principal of Green Ivy Montessori schools, marked a significant turn in Isha's career. Recognizing Isha's innate gift for interacting with children, despite her lack of formal training in this area, led her to a new professional avenue. Isha started working part-time at the school and dedicated her weekends to caring for infants and toddlers. This path eventually led her to a full-time role with a family, nurturing their newborn. Her eight-year experience in this domain culminated in the establishment of her own doula agency, Elite Doula Care.

Isha's philosophy for new parents is insightful: "Trust your child and let them teach you how to care for them. What worked for others may not be suitable for your baby and your family. Never let anyone make you feel guilty or inadequate." She also embraces her identity as a "plant mom," a dedicated "Trekkie," and a science fiction enthusiast. When not working, she indulges in her love for international cuisine at the Institute of Culinary Education. Based in New York City, Isha extends her services to clients across the nation.
